To save his rule, Musharraf may impose martial law: Rehman

President Pervez Musharraf can impose martial law to save his rule, said Pakistans Leader of Opposition and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Peshawar, Aug 18 : President Pervez Musharraf can impose martial law to save his rule, said Pakistan's Leader of Opposition and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Rehman told reporters at Rahim Yar Khan that the purpose of US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard Boucher's visit was to pressurise the Musharraf regime to allow the attack of American forces inside Pakistani territory.

Rehman said the US interference in Pakistan could not be stopped as our government was following their agenda.

The Dawn quoted him as saying that after the Lal Masjid operation, seminaries not only in Pakistan, but also in Bangladesh and India are under threat.

Rehman said that he did not participate in the Pak-Afghan peace jirga in Kabul, because it was held with no agenda.
