Nipper, the longstanding dog and gramophone mascot in the famous logo of retail company HMV, is set to get a modern look.
London, August 18 : Nipper, the longstanding dog and gramophone mascot in the famous logo of retail company HMV, is set to get a modern look.
The high street retailer is launching a revamped identity and logo, its first major image overhaul in more than 15 years, in an attempt to give it a more contemporary feel, reports the Scotsman.
Nipper, which first featured in an 1898 oil painting called His Master's Voice, will now appear in a black and white square instead of a pink circle, standing apart from the main HMV logo.
Sources at HMV say that the refurbished dog mascot is an evolution for the brand and is designed to "gently reassure" customers about HMV's heritage.
The music chain's new branding will feature the pink-coloured letters HMV with the addition of the words "get closer" at the base.
The pink HMV Get Closer logo plus the black and white Nipper mascot will officially be launch next week.
