Turkish plane with 142 onboard hijacked

A plane flying from Cyprus to Istanbul with 142 people onboard was hijacked on Saturday.

Ankara, Aug 18 : A plane flying from Cyprus to Istanbul with 142 people onboard was hijacked on Saturday.

The plane landed in the southern Turkish city of Antalya for refuelling, BBC reported.

The hijacker wanted the plane to fly to Tehran.

They were reportedly speaking in Arabic and are suspected to be al-Qaida men.

According to an Atlas Jet official, there were 136 passengers and six crew onboard when it left Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus.
