Suicide attack in Kandahar leaves 15 dead

At least 15 people have died and 20 others injured, mostly civilians, after a suicide bomber attacked a convoy of a US security firm on the outskirts of Kandahar on Saturday morning.

Kabul, Aug 18 : At least 15 people have died and 20 others injured, mostly civilians, after a suicide bomber attacked a convoy of a US security firm on the outskirts of Kandahar on Saturday morning.

The incident took place when the attacker driving an explosive-laden car hit the convoy carrying security guards on the main highway leading to Helmand province.

Today's suicide attack follows Friday's incident in the southern Afghan province where the District Governor was killed along with his three young children.

According to the BBC, many of the casualties in today's suicide attack were bystanders or passengers in a nearby minibus.
