Pak court allows reopening of corruption cases against Sharif

A local court here today approved the opening of corruption cases against former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Islamabad, Aug 17 : A local court here today approved the opening of corruption cases against former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The incumbent government had closed the corruption cases against former premier and Sharif was sent to exile in Saudi Arabia in December 2000.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed the petition for reopening the corruption charges against Sharif at Accountability Court here on August 3

The date for the next hearing in the case has been fixed on August 25.

Sharif had earlier said that reopening of cases against him is a ploy to stop him from coming to Pakistan before the general elections there.
