The Smith family couldnt contain their happiness when their long lost pet dog returned to them- more than six years after he went missing.
London, August 15 : The Smith family couldn't contain their happiness when their long lost pet dog returned to them- more than six years after he went missing.
Colin Smith, and his wife, Audrey, never thought that they would see their pooch, Quincy, again after he sneaked out from the family home in April 2001.
But the couple were stunned when the dog was found cold, hungry and suffering from severe dental problems in Glasgow city centre last week.
After being found, Quincy was taken to an animal welfare shelter, where staff traced his original owners' address after scanning his microchip.
Two inspectors from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals went to the Smiths' home to enquire about the dog. After being convinced that Quincy belonged to the Smiths, the officers handed over the dog to the family.
The Smiths, who bought the dog as a pet for their son, Lewis, when he was diagnosed with autism, said that they couldn't believe their eyes when they saw Quincy.
"We just couldn't believe it. It's amazing that he is still alive after so long, although he was in a very poor state. We're just delighted to have him back home," the Daily Mail quoted Colin, as saying.
