The Pakistani Taliban has handed over Darra Adamkhels control to the government after receiving assurances from the Qaumi Jirga (national council) that all kinds of un-Islamic activities would be eliminated from the area.

Peshawar, Aug 14 : The Pakistani Taliban has handed over Darra Adamkhel's control to the government after receiving assurances from the Qaumi Jirga (national council) that all kinds of un-Islamic activities would be eliminated from the area.

The Qaumi Jirga said there would be no more kidnappings, car-liftings, issuance of fake degrees and other educational documents, sale and purchase of wine, narcotics and other un-Islamic activities in the area, said Senator Abdur Raziq, who hails from Darra Adamkhel.

The Jirga told the Taliban that action would be taken against anti-social elements.

Raziq said that under the agreement, the Taliban would resume control of Darra Adamkhel, if the Jirga failed.

The Qaumi Jirga also assured the Taliban that they would not families of criminals' to occupy destroyed houses up to five years, The News reported.

Raziq disclosed that the Qaumi Jirga had released nine criminals whom the masked Taliban had arrested during their drive against criminals in their area.

"The Taliban had given the control of Indus Highway and Chargano village to Khassadars and militia force which they had occupied after killing four alleged criminals, recovering four kidnapped persons and 18 stolen vehicles and destroying eight houses," he added.
