Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that Pakistan wants peace in the neighbourhood, and is ready to play an active role to achieve it.

Islamabad, Aug 14 : Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that Pakistan wants peace in the neighbourhood, and is ready to play an active role to achieve it.

Addressing a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Convention Centre here, Aziz said, "We want to have good relations with our neighbours. We want to have peace in the region, and we are willing to play an active role to achieve this in the region."

It is our principled stand that the Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir, he said.

Pakistan was now being seen in the world with respect, as "our ties with the countries all across the world were good," he added.

Aziz said that the Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah, had visualised such a state, where social justice prevailed.

He said that no foreign power would be given permission to enter Pakistani territory.

Pakistan today was a nuclear power by the Grace of God and, "We are proud of it," The News quoted Aziz, as saying.

Commenting on global terrorism threat, Aziz vowed to use all of Pakistan's resources for its elimination.

"I assure you that Pakistan is on the move to progress," he said, and called on all Pakistani citizens to work together to make Pakistan a developed country.
