Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League (Quami) Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed has left for Dubai to attend a private TV channels programme, but political sources say that he might meet Nawaz Sharif.
Islamabad, Aug 14 : Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League (Quami) Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed has left for Dubai to attend a private TV channel's programme, but political sources say that he might meet Nawaz Sharif.
Sources said the meeting with Sharif is a part of a recent government initiative to establish indirect contacts with exiled leaders, the Daily Times reported.
Sources in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz confirmed that Sharif was in Dubai till August 16, but ruled out any meeting with a government emissary or rapprochement with the regime.
Earlier, expressing his unwillingness to serve under President Pervez Musharraf, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had said that he refused to meet the General's emissary three times.
"I don't want to become another Shaukat Aziz. I don't want to become a dummy Prime Minister," Sharif said.
Commenting on the eight years of Musharraf's regime, Sharif said, "I won't call it survival. He's a man whose foundation is wrong, who came to power at gunpoint, who subverted the Constitution."
