London, Aug 10 : A Brit man was left fuming after garbage collectors refused to empty his bin because it contained a bunch of old flowers.
Paul Newman, 33, was told that he had 'polluted' his bin by putting old lilies in it, and that he now had to take it himself to the nearest dump.
Furious with this, the estate agent left a message with his council, but was then left cooling his heels for four days for a reply.
"They told me the bins were not collected because they contained contaminated garden waste," The Sun quoted him, as saying.
"I'm fuming. It's absolutely ridiculous. It was just a few stalks.
"Our bins are now infested with bluebottles and I'm still waiting for them to get in touch with me again," he added.
David Gillett, Havant Council leader, said: "As far as I'm concerned this is household waste. I have sympathy with his concern."
The council, which charges to take away bagged garden waste, has now promised that Newman's bins will be emptied.
