US has no intention of operation in Pakistan: Pattersson

Amidst reports that the Bush Administration is considering direct action against al Qaeda hideouts, the new US Ambassador to Pakistan, Anne W. Pattersson, today ruled out any such operation.

Lahore, Aug 1 : Amidst reports that the Bush Administration is considering direct action against al Qaeda hideouts, the new US Ambassador to Pakistan, Anne W. Pattersson, today ruled out any such operation.

She said that Washington has no intention of making any operation in Pakistan and it considers the sacrifices of Islamabad in the war against terror very valuable.

The United States and Pakistan have been the allies for several years in the war against terror, and Pakistan's role in this connection is praiseworthy, she added.

Pattersson further said that the American aid to Pakistan would be continued and a special attention would be given on development projects in tribal areas, particularly on the programmes of health and education of the people, The News reported.

She ruled out the role of America in organising the last week's meeting between President Pervez Musharraf and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in Abu Dhabi.
