'Woman having sex outside marriage should be hanged', says Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi
April 11, 2014 - New Delhi
Azmi added that 'In India, if you have sex with a person with consent it is fine. But if that same person complains, it is a problem. Now days, we see a lot of such cases. Girls complain when someone touches them and even when someone doesn't touch them. It becomes a problem then and the man's honour is ruined in this. If rape happens with or without consent should be punished as prescribed in Islam.
Giving a solution to this, Azmi said the solution is this: any woman if, whether married or unmarried, goes along with a man, with or without her consent, should be hanged. Both should be hanged. It shouldn't be allowed even if a woman goes by consent."
It may be recalled here that the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Thursday said while addressing an election rally in Moradabad questioning the death sentence to three men who were convicted of two gang rapes in Mumbai last week. He said the three men have been handed the death sentence under a new law that punishes repeat offenders; they were found guilty of gang-raping two women, a photo-journalist and a telephone operator, at the abandoned Shakti Mills in Mumbai He went on to say that "Boys and girls ....later they had differences, and the girl went and gave a statement that I have been raped. And then the poor fellows, three of them have been sentenced to death. Should rape cases lead to hanging? Boys are boys, they make mistakes. Two or three have been given the death sentence in Mumbai. We will try and change such laws...we will also ensure punishment of those who report false cases," he said.
