March 4, 2014 - Guntur
Speaking to media on Tuesday, Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh said that Uttar Pradesh State should be divided for better administrative control.
Jairam Ramesh said that Uttar Pradesh has become too large to be administrative by a single government. 'I feel that it should be reorganized into three or four States', he said. Supporting his argument, he said that the State with a population of 22 crore has 75 divisions, 800 blocks and 52,000 gram panchayats. He said it would not be possible for a single government to handle it, said Jairam Ramesh.
