Justice Rohini appointed as the first woman Chief Justice of Delhi High Court

Justice G Rohini currently senior judge in Andhra Pradesh High Court was appointed as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. President of India Pranab Mukherjee cleared the file of elevating her to the Delhi High Court Chief Justice on Friday following the recommendations of the Chief Justice of India collegium. She will be the first woman judge posted to Delhi High Court and will assume the charge shortly.

Justice G Rohini was born on 14 April 1955 to Gorle Savitri and Suryarao in Visakhapatnam and completed her bachelor degree in science at Osmania University and law at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.

She enrolled as an advocate on December 18, 1980 and worked as a junior at Koka Raghavarao. She practices as advocate from 1955 to 2001 at Andhra Pradesh High Court. She was appointed as the judge at AP High Court in 2001 and was involved in legal journalism, as a reporter and executive editor of Andhra Pradesh Law journals. She was sworn in as a permanent judge of the AP High Court in July 2002.
