Four passengers killed as Rajadhani Express derails


June 25, 2014 - New Delhi

Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajadhani Express in the early hours of Wednesday derailed at Golden Ganj station near Chapra killing four passengers leaving eight injured.

According to Railway spokesperson Anil Saxena said that five coaches from B1 to B4 and a panty car overturned while seven coaches B-5 to 10 and power car derailed near Patna.

Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda left for the accident site expressed grief over the incident. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs.2 lakh for the families of the dead and Rs.1 lakh for those severally injured and Rs.20,000 those met with minor injuries. The injured are being treated at Patna Medical College Hospital. MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan expresses condolences over the incident and demanded a probe.
