Five persons killed in IAF aircraft crash
March 28, 2014 - Jaipur
Five persons were killed when a C-130J Super Hercules Special Operations transport aircraft of the Indian Air force crashed along the Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan boarder near Karauli near Jaipur.
According to air force sources that the aircraft crashed 115 km west of Gwalior airbase and Col Goswami said that the aircraft was airborne from Agra at 10.00 hrs (IST) for a routine flying training session.
Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday attacked the UPA government for the crash and said that it needs own up responsibility for the air accident. The BJP demanded a probe into the incident. “This is absolutely a shocking incident. Hercules is such a sturdy aircraft, it doesn’t meet with such accidents. It needs not just only an inquiry but government needs to own up responsibility,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said. He said the accident speaks a lot about the infrastructure of defence forces as there have been many Navy accidents — ten in the past ten months. “Now again this rising graph of air accidents. We lose the precious lives of our Air Force personnel and this is the status of our preparedness under the UPA regime,” the BJP spokesperson.
