- Supreme court of India ordered a non-bailable warrant against Sahara India Pariwar's chairman Subrata Roy for failing to appear before the Court in connection case of non refund of Rs. 20,000 crore to investors by two of his companies.
- Two Navy officers were feared dead and seven personnel were seriously injured in a mishap involving submarine INS Sindhuratna off the coast of Mumbai. The officers that deceased are a Lieutenant and a Lieutenant Commander. Nearly 80 sailors were on board of Sindhuratna when the mishap occurred.
- Navy Chief Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi takes moral responsibility for the recent submarine accidents. Vice Admiral Robin Dhowan is likely to take over as Acting Naval Chief till regular Chief is appointed.
- BJP sources indicate that alliance talks between Bharatiya Janata Party and Lok Janshakti Party are at an advanced stage. The parties are believed to be discussing seat-sharing and after which a possible tie-up could be announced.
