- Discussion of AP State Reorganization Bill begins in Rajya Sabha amidst protests. Union Minister and Congress MP Chiranjeevi blames Congress, BJP, YSR Congress Party and TDP for the current situation and demands Hyderabad being made a Union Territory. Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati supports the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and demands special package for Seemandhra. She also demands Uttar Pradesh to be divided into four states and Vidarbha state carved out of Maharashtra.
- DMK opposed the Telangana Bill and staged a walk out.
- Samajwadi Party and CPI(M) opposed the bill.
- Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely said that he is disappointed by the way UPA has gone through the process of the Telangana Bill. He said that the Congress mishandled the process and reminded that BJP had created smaller states in the past without protests from any sections. He alleged that Congress is creating Telangana now with an eye on the elections.
