'Death penalty for rapists unfair', says Samajwadi Party chief

Mulayam Singh Yadav said that there was a need to change the anti-rape law as 'boys commit mistakes' for which they should not be hanged. Making sensational comments he said that 'boys are boys, they commit mistakes' at an election rally in Moradabad.
Referring to the recent court judgement in the gang rape incident on two women at Shakti Mills in Mumbai last, he said that there was a need to change the law. He said that 'efforts will be made to change such a law, so that those misusing it are punished. Those who file false reports should also be taken to task', said Mulayam Singh Yadav.
