Congress MP candidate Imran Masood arrested for hate speech

Police on Saturday arrested Congress Lok Sabha candidate Imran Masood on charges of hate speech.

In the back drop of his speech in which he threatened to chop Narendra Modi into pieces, police registered an FIR. The police arrested him in the early hours of Saturday.

Following the arrest of the Congress MP candidate, AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi who is scheduled to visit has cancelled the tour. Congress Legislative Party leader Pradeep Mathur announced the same and said that the next date will be declared soon. A video footage of the election rally in Saharanpur showing Masood attacking the BJP prime ministerial candidate Modi on the web. He said that “If Modi tries to make Uttar Pradesh into Gujarat, then we will chop him into tiny pieces...I am not scared of getting killed or attacking someone. I will fight against Modi. He thinks U.P. is Gujarat. Only 4 per cent Muslims are there in Gujarat while there are 42 per cent Muslims in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh IGP (Law and Order) Amarender Sengar has told to media in Lucknow that the Congress nominee has been booked under section 125 (promoting enmity between classes in connection with election) of the Representation Of The People Act, and various IPC sections.
