CBI registers bribery case in Rolls Royce case
March 22, 2014 - New Delhi
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday registered a preliminary enquiry into the alleged bribery in the Rs.18.8 crore deal for the supply of aircraft engines to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited by Britain’s Rolls Royce.
The investigating agency named unknown officials of HAL, Aashmore Private Limited owner Ashok Patni and Rolls Royce in the enquiry.
It may be recalled that the case is related to supply of engines from Hawk trainer and Jauger fighter aircraft when the Defence Minister AK Anthony ordered the agency to look into the episode during the period 2007-11.
