CBI files status report on Coal block allocations

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday field a status report on the probe in the coal block allocations.
The investigating agency filed the report in a sealed cover. The apex court might go through it on January 15 when a bench headed by Justice RM Lodha will hear a bench of Public Interest Litigations (PIL) on the issue. Sources said that it had informed the Supreme Court of nearly 60 coal blocks that likely to be taken out of the purview of the probe after taking permission from the apex court. The investigating agency found prima facie material that indicates cheating, criminal misconduct and corruption in 16 cases.
It may be recalled here that the CBI has filed16 FIRs against AMR Iron and Steel, JLD Yavatmal Energy, Vini Iron and Steel Udyog, JAS Infrastructure Capital Pvt Ltd, Vikash Metals, Grace Industries, Gagan Sponge, Jindal Steel and Power, Rathi Steel and Power Ltd, Jharkhand Ispat, Green Infrastructure, Kamal Sponge, Pushp Steel, Hindalco, BLA Industries, Castron Technologies and Castron Mining.
