CB CID zeros TCS techie Uma Maheswari murder case

A team of CB-CID police on Wednesday zeroed the murder/rape case of TCS software engineer Uma Maheswari case with the arrest Ujjal Mandal the third accused in Kolkata.

It may be recalled here that the police have arrested two accused Uttam Mandal (24) and Ram Mandal (21). The police went in search for him following their confession that he had boarded a train to Howrah.

Director General of CB-CID Narinder Pal Singh said that they accused will be produced before a local magistrate in Kolkata and will be brought to Chennai on a transit warrant.

Police sources said that Ujjal was the prime accused in the case and he who dragged her into some bushes where the trio physically violated here before she was stabbed to death. In their confession, it was told that initially they wanted to rob her when they saw her walking on the road.

Inspector General of Police CB-CID Mahesh Kumar Agarwal said that Uttam Mandal before his arrest tried to withdraw cash at an ATM kiosk at Siruseri but failed for want of PIN. He bought clothes at a textile shop by using card.
