11-party combination decides to throw Congress out of power


February 25, 2014 - New Delhi

Putting an alternative to the existing Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) an 11 party combination on Tuesday decided to work against the both.

A joint declaration that said as that the time has been ripen to push both the parties from coming to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. They said that the BJP and communal forces have to be prevented from coming to power.

Communist Party of India (CPI)(M) General Secretary Prakash Kart said that “we will work for the defeat of the Congress.', and on BJP, he said it was no different from the Congress. Their record for corruption in the Centre earlier and in States in now was as worse than Congress, he said.

The meeting was also attended by Deve Gowda (JD-S), veteran CPI leader A B Bardhan, M Thambidurai (AIADMK), T G Chandrachoodan (RSP), Debabrata Biswas (Forward Bloc), Sitaram Yechury (CPI-M), K C Tyagi (JD-U), S Sudhakara Reddy (CPI).

However, representatives of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Karat said that the chiefs of these two have extended support to the initiative.
