WeChat Launches Walkie-Talkie Style Live Chat with its Latest Update
February 7, 2013 - New Delhi, Delhi, India
The Live Voice Chat feature allows a group of friends to have instant voice conversations within the group with a simple touch action. It is just like walkie-talkie devices in real world -- one person can speak at a time but everyone can hear.
The Group Chat feature within WeChat has also got an update. Now every Group can generate a unique QR Code, that can be shared for inviting new members into the group.
WeChat users now have an option of backing up & restoring their chat history with a single-touch; and for iOS users, also the ability to search through chat history.
In addition, the User Interface of the app makes it easier for friends to be discovered and recommended as part of the core product experience.
New Features of WeChat 4.5 version for Android and iPhone:
-- Chat with friends in a Live Chat session
-- Invite friends to a WeChat group Chat via QR code
-- Search through Chat history
-- Back-up and restore Chat history
On the new update, Dennis Hau, Head of Product Center, International Business Group, Tencent said “The new update is part of our endeavor to delight our users with the most innovative and best available mobile messaging options. The new Live Chat feature has been introduced based on user feedbacks and we believe it will be a great hit among users. We intend to keep improving the app with additional features to enable people to stay connected in a fun and exciting manner.”
The popular, free mobile voice and text messaging application WeChat, which has 300 million registered users globally, was launched in India in July last year across iPhone, Android, Symbian, and Windows mobile platforms and has recently been launched on the BlackBerry platform as well.
The No. 1 mobile social messaging app, WeChat comes loaded with innovative features like Video/Audio Calling, Push-to-Talk Voice Messaging, Group Chat-text & voice and Location based friend-discovery social features. It offers engaging one-on-one and group chat sessions with an extensive range of animated and custom emoticon and emoji art, customizable backgrounds, and a Rock-Paper-Scissors mini-game. The app supports social networking via shared streaming content feeds and location-based social plug-ins (Shake and Look Around) to chat with and befriend other users. WeChat also encourages creative expression by allowing users to apply artistic filters to their photos, create a personal photo journal, and share photos with friends on chat and ‘Moments’ wall.
WeChat is available for free download on iOS App Store, Google Play Store, Blackberry App Store, Nokia Store and Windows Marketplace.
