Tata Capital’s ‘Do Right’ Initiative Launches ‘Half-Stories - The Journey of Doing Right’

November 19, 2013 - New Delhi, Delhi, India

Tata Capital Limited – the financial services arm of The Tata Group, today announced the launch of ‘Half Stories – The Journey of Doing Right’ – the second phase of its ‘Do Right’ initiative. Continuing the ‘Do Right’ initiative, ‘Half Stories’ is a journey to identify unique stories of courage, perseverance and determination from some of the remotest parts of the country, highlighting the challenges faced by the individuals/ communities living there and then letting ordinary citizens like us step in and support their needs and dreams, effectively scripting a happy end to their stories. Through this initiative, Tata Capital not only provides the support to these individuals, but puts its philosophy on a larger stage and calls for public attention and participation from the society at large to ‘do right’.

The Tata Capital Do Right team commenced the 2000km journey, starting from Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh all the way to Guwahati in Assam. Across the journey, the team will identify simple, everyday stories of people and place these stories, through photographs and videos, on the Do Right website ( and the Do Right Facebook page ( Tata Capital, will reach out via digital media, specifically social media, to make people aware of these ‘half-stories’, detailing how they may support a cause in order to complete the story successfully. The initiative is in partnership with United Way of Mumbai, a prominent NGO.

By giving these half-told stories a voice, Tata Capital aims to build a platform where people can make a difference. Thus, whether it is by donating or by simply sharing these stories with your social groups, your support can help complete these stories by helping ‘script’ the other half.

“The ‘Do Right’ initiative is an extension of our brand promise – ‘We only do what’s right for you’. It aims to nurture and spread the spirit of ‘Do Right’, by inspiring people and providing platforms for them to Do Right. Resting on the Do Right website and the Do Right Facebook and Twitter channels, Half Stories is a journey along which we will be discovering stories of everyday people, highlighting their needs and using social media to help fulfill them. The initiative aims to discover ‘half stories’, which can then be made complete by calling for public help, using the Do Right digital channels.” said Veetika Deoras, Head – Brand Marketing and Corporate Communication, Tata Capital Limited.

Tata Capital’s brand promise – “We only do what’s right for you” – is a reflection of the Company’s resolve to do what’s right for all its stakeholders, including its customers and the society at large. As a first step, the ‘Do Right’ philosophy was beautifully encapsulated in the Signature Song of Tata Capital – “Karein wahi jo ho sahi”. Written by the eminent lyricist Gulzarji , composed by the famous musical trio of Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy, and sung by the renowned Shankar Mahadevan. Legendary classical music artists like Amjad Ali Khan and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma joined the initiative and demonstrated their support through their own beautiful musical renditions of the Tata Capital Signature Song.
