  • Metropolitan Magistrate Namita Aggarwal orders an in-camera proceedings of the Delhi gangrape case after a group of lawyers created ruckus objecting to a few layers offering them to offer services to the defendants or serve as amicus curiae. The magistrate also put a gag order on the case by the print and electronic media.
  • The Indian Institutes of Technology have decided to increase the annual fee for undergraduate courses by 80 per cent. The existing fee of Rs. 50,000 has been hiked to Rs. 90,000 and will be applicable only to the 2013 entrants. No tuition and hostel fee will be charged for students belonging to SC and ST categories and 100 per cent scholarships will be awarded to those students whose parents' annual income is less than Rs. 4.5 lakh.
  • Four CRPF jawans went missing after an encounter with CPI (Maoist) in the Katiya forest in Latehar district from Ranchi. The missing jawans are suspected to have been killed.
