Government of Maharashtra Bags Gold Award at Express IT Awards

Government of Maharashtra bagged the Gold Award in the ‘Green IT Initiative of the Year’ category in the 1st Express IT Awards. The Award, constituted by the Indian Express group, celebrates Innovation and Excellence in IT and is one of the most coveted and prestigious award in this field. The winners were selected by an eminent panel of jury comprising of Mr. Nandan Nilekani, Chairman UIDAI; Ms. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD Biocon; Mr. Rajan Anandan, VP and MD, Google India; T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Manipal Global Education and Professor Sadagopan Director, IIIT- Bangalore.

Government of Maharashtra was the only Government entity to bag this prestigious award, whereas all other awards were grabbed by leading corporate entities including Infosys, TCS, Microsoft, SAP, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, HDFC Standard Life Insurance, ICICI Bank etc. The winners were selected from more than 400 nominations that were received. The State Government was recognized for the exemplary work done in reducing usage of paper and carbon footprint through the use of e-Office. Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary IT, Govt. of Maharashtra received the award on behalf of the State Government. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Aggarwal said “eOffice has been one of the pioneering initiatives undertaken by the State in the last 12 months, and this has significantly reduced the use of paper for processing of file and decision making. e-Governance is a priority of the Government and we are making more and more services available to citizens at their doorsteps.” This award marks the 135th award won by the State Government in e-Governance in the past few years, which is a landmark in itself.
