Vijay Mallya offers 3 kgs of gold to Tirumala temple

Promoter of Kingfisher Airlines and United Breweries Group Chairman Vijay Mallya has offered three kilos of gold to Lord Venkateswara at the famous hill shrine of Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh on his 57th birthday today.

According to the TTD Deputy EO Chinnamgari Ramana, Mallya asked the temple authorities to use the gold for gilding the Bangaru Vakili, the doors of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Mallya personally handed over the gold to the temple and a receipt was issued to him. The gold is estimated to be worth Rs. 6 crore.

Vijay Mallya arrived with his family last night and celebrated his birthday at a simple function at the TTD guesthouse. The guesthouse Venkata Vijayam at which he celebrated his birthday was donated by him 15 years ago.

Vijay Mallya has made several donations to temples in the past. In August 2012, he offered Rs 80 lakh gold-plated doors to the Kukke Subramanya temple in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka.
