Vice President mourns demise of veteran Congressman NKP Salve

Vice President M. Hamid Ansari on Sunday mourned the demise of veteran Congressman Narendra Kumar Salve, better known as NKP Salve.

In his condolence message to the bereaved family members of Salve, Ansari said that he would pray to the Almighty to grant them the strength and fortitude to withstand this loss.

Leaders across political spectrum expressed grief over demise of the Congress leader and former union minister.

In his condolence message, the Governor of Maharashtra K Sankaranarayanan said that N K P Salve contributed to the development of the state, particularly of the Vidarbha region.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in his condolence message said that Salve was a multi-dimensional personality adding that he was a true loyalist and extremely studious leader and his extensive political work will always remain inspirational.

90-year-old Salve passed away at a private hospital in Delhi due to age-related illness early Sunday morning is survived by his son Harish Salve, an eminent lawyer and daughter Arundhati, who runs a school in Nagpur.
