PA Sangma demands RO order

July 4, 2012 - New Delhi

Presidential candidate PA Sangma has demanded a copy of the detailed order of the Returning officer who has rejected his objection to Pranab Mukherjee's nomination. Sangma has earlier filed an objection seeking the rejection of his rival and UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee's nomination on the grounds of holding an office of profit as the chairman of ISI.

Sangma has written to the Returning Officer asking for a copy of the detailed order to be handed over to him by 5 pm today as 24 hours have passed by after the rejection of his objections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged yesterday that the Pranab's letter of resignation was fabricated. BJP leader SS Ahluwalia said that the party would decide on the further course of action after the detailed copy of the rejection of Sangma's objection is received. The option of moving an election petition is not ruled out as Sangma's counsel Satya Pal Jain, who is also the BJP's legal cell head told reporters that they are keeping all the options open.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has rejected the BJP's contention that Pranab Mukherjee's resignation letter was forged.
