PA Sangma likely to move to Supreme Court against presidential election

Former Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma who has lost in the presidential election to Pranab Mukherjee has decided to move to the Supreme Court. Reports say that Sangma will approach the Supreme Court next week asking the presidential election to be declared null and void.

Sangma has alleged that Pranab Mukherjee was holding an office of profit when he filed his nomination for the presidential election. His team has alleged that Pranab was the Chairman of the Indian Statistical Institute as well as two other institutions when he filed the nomination papers. Pranab Mukherjee has earlier said that he had resigned long before filing his nomination papers, Sangma's camp said that his signature was forged.

The Bharatiya Janata Party who had endorsed PA Sangma during the presidential election has said that if Sangma decides to move to the court, it would be in his personal capacity. BJP has already welcomed Pranab as the 13th President of India.
