Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik reshuffles his cabinet

Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik has reshuffled his cabinet on Thursday. Five ministers were dropped from his cabinet, while nine new members were made ministers. Governor MC Bhandare administered the oath of office to the nine new ministers at Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.

The new ministers in Patnaik's cabinet are Kalpataru Das, Damodar Rout, Bijayashree Routray, Pratap Keshari Deo, Subrat Tarai, Rajanikant Singh, Sarojini Hembram, Arun Kumar Sahu and Rabi Narayan Nanda. The five ministers dropped from the cabinet included the state Finance minister Prafulla Ghadai. On the advice of chief minister, the five ministers have tendered their resignations.

  • Prasanna Acharya - Finance
  • Damodar Rout - Health and Family Welfare
  • Kalpataru Das - Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary
  • Debi Prasad Mishra - Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development
  • Rajanikant Singh - Steel and Mines department
  • Usha Devi - Women and Child Development
  • Arun Kumar Sahu - Energy

Ministers who tendered their resignation:

  • Prafulla Ghadai - Finance Minister
  • Prafulla Samal - Tourism and Culture Minister
  • Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak - Energy Minister
  • Pushpendra Singhdeo - Labour Minister
  • Pratap Jena - School and Mass Education Minister
