  • Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi, a representation of farmers in Karnataka, began a relay hunger strike in Mandya protesting the Karnataka government's action to release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. They warned that the people would stop paying taxes if government does not roll back its decision.
  • BJP senior leader and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that there is no conflict within the party over the issue of prime ministerial candidate. He said that the party would announce the name at an appropriate time. Chouhan is in Washington, US on an official visit.
