BJP says Modi just one of six prime ministerial candidates of NDA

August 17, 2012 - New Delhi

BJP President Nitin Gadkari has said that Narendra Modi is one of the six candidates who could be projected as the prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 electons. Dismissing reports of split in the NDA over the issue, Gadkari said that Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar will be consulted before the NDA makes a final decision.

"Modi is one of the six PM candidates of BJP along with LK Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and M M Joshi. No decision has been taken yet," Gadkari said.

Nitish earlier spoke to Gadkari and asked him not to project Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate yet. However, he told a magazine that he never threatened the BJP over this issue.
