Home Minister Shinde given Z-plus security

August 16, 2012 - New Delhi

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde got a makeover to his security. Shinde was given escort, pilot and bullet-proof cars and an enhanced team of security personnel. Shinde was made the Home Minister recently after Pranab Mukherjee was shifted to the Finance ministry.

Given the responsibilities and threats a Home Minister face, Z-plus security is always given to the Home Minister. However, the former Home Minister P Chidambaram never took the security ring, nor travelled in a bullet-proof car.

On the first day of assuming charge of the Home Ministry, the Pune bomb blasts kept the Home Minister busy. The Home Minister was scheduled to attend an event in Pune when the bomb blasts occurred.
