  • The Chhattisgarh state government led by Raman Singh has enacted the Chhattisgarh Food Security Act, 2012. Food entitlements will be provided to all Antyodaya households, priority households and general households without any limit on the percentage of beneficiaries.
  • A 13-year-old girl was murdered after an attempted rape in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu. The body of the girl was found at an open field near railway track at the Thathankulam station. The post-mortem report said that the girl was strangled and that there was also an attempt to rape her.
