- CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat said that the left parties would seek another vote during amendment of FEMA regulations even if UPA wins the vote in Parliament. He criticized the UPA Government for luring parties opposed to FDI to win vote on the issue. He said that the CPI-M, CPI, CPI-ML and Forward Block strongly oppose the 51 per cent share in FDI in multi-brand retail introduced by the UPA government.
- Anti-Corruption crusader Anna Hazare said that he would campaign only for the Aam Aadmi Party if they put up candidates with clean records. He criticized the other political parties for indulging in politics in name of case and communities.
- Former Indian Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral was cremated today with full state honors in New Delhi. Prayers, 21-gun salute was performed during the cremation. IK Gujral passed away yesterday at the age of 92.
- Former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhana Reddy will contest in the assembly elections next year. He would contest from Badava Shramika Raitha Congress either from Bellary, Kushtagi or Chitradurga constituencies.
