Coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal challenge BJP to prove coalgate allegations

September 11, 2012 - Lucknow

Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal challenged the BJP leaders to prove the allegations they made in the coalgate scam. Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, he said "An attempt is being made to create confusion... it is my challenge that I will be in the office tomorrow, they come and take all information after that either they should have to apologise to the country or I will,"

BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad earlier said that the allocation started after Sriprakash Jaiswal became the coal minister. "Today BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad once again started the business of falsification. He gave the statement that coal block allocation after Sriprakash Jaiswal became the coal minister. In this connection I want to claim and also give a challenge, first thing total 195 blocks were allotted from 1993 till regime of UPA I, which had been replied in the Parliament question several times. Was 196th block allotted? If not, then those indulging into face saving and politics should get rid of their habit," he said.

Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that relatives and associates of union ministers in the Government were allocated coal blocks after some of the leaders became ministers. "It is truly amazing that the enterprenuerial skills of the kith and kin of UPA ministers shine only when the brothers are ministers," said Ravi Shankar Prasad.
