March 7, 2012 - Panaji

BJP leader Manohar Parrikar, who met Goa Governor K Sankarnarayanan at the Raj Bhavan here today to stake claim to form the next government in the state, informed that the swearing-in-ceremony will take place on Friday.

"This is the alliance, which has staked a claim. We have gone together to stake a claim. This is the pre-poll alliance that has taken place for forming a government. The swearing-in-ceremony is on 9th (March 9) at 5 p.m.," he told the media here.

BJP legislative wing unanimously elected Parrikar as its leader today. The decision also backed by its alliance partner Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).

The latest developments came after a meeting of the newly-elected BJP legislators that took place earlier in the day here in the presence of party veterans Venkaiah Naidu and Ravi Shankar Prasad.

The BJP-MGP alliance bagged 24 seats out of the 40-member House in the Goa assembly polls.
