BJP asks Centre to investigate about those providing shelter to Jundal

June 30, 2012 - Kanpur/New Delhi

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday asked the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre to inquire as to where did 26/11 handler Abu Jundal stay and from which political leaders did he get shelter.

"We want the Indian government to find out the houses of all those leaders where Abu Jundal took refuge and when all did he get protection and from whom. This should be investigated . This is a very serious issue," BJP leader Vinay Katiyar told the media in Kanpur.

Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram had earlier on Friday said Abu Jundal had a very safe haven in Pakistan and that India believes that the control room could not have been established without state support.

He said that Pakistan should admit that he did go to there and that he was present in the control room established and that he had a role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Chidambaram said that LeT founder Hafiz Saeed was in the control room in Pakistan with Jundal during 26/11 Mumbai carnage.

Abu Jundal was arrested on his arrival from Saudi Arabia at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport by Delhi Police on June 21.

He is currently in the custody of Special Cell till July 5.

According to reports, Jundal has admitted his active role in the 26/11 attack, saying he had worked in tandem with terror mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.

He has during his interrogation confessed his role in the country's worst terror attack and admitted that he was present in the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) control room in Karachi from where direction was being to the 10 terrorists who carried out the strike.
