16 Naxals killed, two injured in Chhattisgarh encounter

Sixteen Naxals were killed in a fierce encounter with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in the jungles of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh.

The CRPF personnel also arrested two injured Naxals after the encounter, which ended this morning.

At least nine CRPF personnel have also been injured in the encounter, which took place in the jungles of Silger, a Maoist zone between the Naxal hotbed of Jagargunda and Basaguda in Dantewada. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital in Raipur.

According to reports, CRPF personnel launched the operation against the Naxals from three different directions.
