A major mishap was averted in Assam's Gopalpara District on Friday after the security personnel defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which they found inside the Kamakhya-Puri Express.

Over 500 passengers were on board when the bomb was discovered in the train.

The IED that weighed five kilograms was recovered from the Puri-bound train at Pancharatna station during a routine check.
