Hazare's indefinite fast to press his demand for an effective Lokpal Bill continued at New Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, as the anti-graft campaigner maintained that he was determined to get the version of the Bill as drafted by the civil society endorsed in the Parliament.

Mulayam also said that the Samajwadi Party always stood against corruption, and was the first among political parties to raise a voice against corruption.Samajwadi Party was one of the first parties to extend support to Anna Hazare, in the crusade against corruption; earlier we are fighting now he has also joined the movement," he added.

Hazare has posed a stern challenge to the Congress Party-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre in its second term as it reels from a string of corruption scandals and a perception that it is out of touch with millions of Indians hit by high food inflation.
