President, Vice President, PM greet nation on Vishu, Rongali Bihu

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today greeted the nation on the occasion of Vishu, which is being celebrated on April 14 and Rongali Bihu, Naba Barsha and Puthandu Pirappu, which are being celebrated on April 15.

In her message, President Patil wished that the harvest season bring peace, happiness and prosperity to the people.

She conveyed her greetings to fellow citizens and the farming community in the country.

Vice President Ansari in his message said that these festivals mark the onset of harvest season and the mood of rejoicing is vividly captured in the colorful festivities.

Dr. Singh in his message said that these traditional New Year festivals celebrated across the country are an occasion to acknowledge the significant contribution of our farmers in nation building. These festivals are not only an occasion for joy and celebration but also an occasion to be grateful to nature for its bounty.

"May these festivals Usher in a year of prosperity and happiness for all", he added.
