President Patil asks young Army officers to keep abreast of changing security scenario

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has asked the young officers passing out from the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA) to display 'sterling leadership' in their conduct and strive for the safety, honour and welfare of the nation.

Addressing the passing out parade of 546 Gentlemen Cadets at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) here on Friday, President Patil asked the young cadets to place the security and honour of the country first, when they are faced with doubts, temptations, dilemmas and uncertainties.

Stating that the threats to the nation's security are 'constantly changing', President Patil asked the armed forces to be well acquainted to deal with such challenges.

"The nature of warfare on the battlefield is constantly changing, as indeed are the various threats to our national security. The Army today must be fighting fit, and at the same time well acquainted to deal with the challenges of the knowledge era that we are living in," she said.

Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva and Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank received the President on her arrival at Dehradun.
