  • AIADMK Chief J Jayalalithaa will meet Governor tomorrow to make her claim to form the Government. Speaking to the media, she said that the people have reposed faith on AIADMK to lead the state and the result of the assembly elections is just not a negative vote against the DMK. Jayalalithaa has reitreated that her Government will take action against corrupt ministers of the DMK Government.
  • Governor HR Bharadwaj rejected Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yedyurappa's request to hold assembly session today. Bharadwaj is meeting Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Meanwhile, the Congress State Congress has demanded that the Chief Minister should take moral responsibility and step down.
  • After the landslide victory in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has invited Congress to be part of the West Bengal Government. Pranab Mukherjee will meet Mamata Banarjee today to discuss about the same.
  • Kanimozhi who is one of the suspects in the 2G scam, got a relief today as the court deferred its order on her bail plea to the 20th of this month.
  • An earth quake with a magnitude of 4.9 has been recorded in the Jammu and Kashmir valley at 3 in the morning today. Officials have reported no damage due to the earth quake.
  • Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President KV Tangabaalu has tendered his resignation owing moral responsibility to the debacle of the Congress party in the assembly elections. Speaking to the media, Tangabaalu said that he has sent the resignation letter to AICC President Sonia Gandhi. He said that he respects the verdict of the people and will abide by the decision of the Congress high command.
  • Kerala Chief Minister Achutandan has tendered his resignation as Chief Minister today. He has submitted his resignation letter to Kerala Governor RN Gawai. The LDF and its allies managed to secure 68 seats in the assembly elections, while the UDF and its allies has secured 72 seats.

Tamil Nadu Congress chief steps down over assembly poll drubbing
