June 16, 2011 - Lucknow

The Crime Branch-CID may file a preliminary report on Thursday evening into the murder of a minor girl within the compound of Nighasan police station in Lakhimpur District.

The report will contain comments on suggestions that there may have been an attempt to rape before the murder was committed.

The CB-CID will also have to submit a report before the Allahabad High Court tomorrow.

According to sources, the CB-CID in their findings are trying to examine the allegation that there was an attempt of rape made on the minor girl before she was murdered.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Mayawati has ordered the suspension of a police officer over serious lapses in the handling of this case.

Mayawati announced the suspension of Lakhimpur-Kheri Superintendent of Police (SP) D.K. Rai.

The second autopsy conducted on the minor girl's body, which was found hanging from a tree within the compound of Nighasan police station in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur District on Friday night, yesterday confirmed that the victim was murdered.

Missing since Friday evening, the girl was found hanging from a tree inside the premises of Nighasan Police Station. The victim's mother in her complaint had alleged that the girl was raped and murdered.
