Karnataka High Court rejects bail plea of Yeddyurappa

August 29, 2011 - Bangalore

Karnataka High Court on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in the land notification scam.

He had moved the application before the court in connection with the illegal denotification of land after prosecution was sanctioned by Governor HR Bhardwaj.

Yeddyurappa, who was summoned by the Lokayukta court also, appeared before the court which postponed the case to September 7.

Yeddyurappa had applied for an anticipatory bail in connection with the illegal denotification of land.

According to media reports, Yeddyurappa could be arrested on Tuesday for several irregularities in the land notification scam.

On August 10, the Lokayukta of Karnataka filed a complaint against Yeddyurappa and also registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The FIR against Yeddyurappa is yet another blow to him who had to step down from his post after being indicted in a Lokayukta report on illegal mining scam.
