BJP chalks out strategy ahead of Winter Session of Parliament

November 21, 2011 - New Delhi

With all eyes being set on the Winter Session of Parliament beginning tomorrow, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders met at party veteran Lal Krishna Advani's residence here on Monday to chalk out a strategy to take to task the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre, which is engulfed in various scams.

BJP leaders including Venkaiah Naidu, S S Ahluwalia, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Balbir Punj, Shahnawaz Hussain were present at the meeting.

The Winter Session of Parliament is expected to be a stormy affair with the BJP ready to take on the UPA over the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam and the 2G-spectrum scam. The BJP is also expected to raise the issue of inflation and rising petrol prices in the last few months.

Moreover, veteran social activist Anna Hazare's demands for the passage of an effective Lokpal Bill has also put pressure on the ruling Congress Party.

Other issues that are likely to be taken up during the Winter Session is the demand for the creation of a separate state of Telangana, and a bill on the prevention of communal violence.
